About this deal

From the start of their 10-day stay at Tranquillum House, the nine guests realize this is not going to be a vacation. First, Yao and Delilah, the spa's resident "wellness consultants," take things out of their bags. Confiscated contraband includes chocolate, alcohol, cell phones, and anything else that falls in the category of "indulgences." In the book, Moriarty used and discussed the famous line "Reader, I married him" from the beginning of Chapter 38 of Jane Eyre. The line is discussed in chapter 12 and other chapters. A friend of mine wanted to read Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty, so I offered to read it with her. This remote health resort called Tranquillum House is located in Sydney- Australia, built in 1800s and renovated into a secluded place providing extra pampering, luxury, mindfulness, medication, soul healing etc. I have to give this one 5* for pure enjoyment levels. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much at the same time as being made to consider life so much whilst reading a book.

Moriarty’s ability to bring out the small idiosyncrasies in each person is extraordinary. She slowly dissects each character, their thoughts, fears and hopes are revealed through her writing. It was easy to see something of yourself in these everyday people. Agreeing to tell each other nothing more than their first names, Olivia and James embark on a torrid affair. But the more time they spend together, the more Olivia begins to realize her summer fling is turning into a powerful connection…and that the magnetic man she’s falling in love with might not be what he seems at all. It became pretty apparent to me, as the ending loomed, there was only one of two ways the story could go — veer into crazy territory, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, or take the easy way out.I never, ever thought I'd say this about a Liane Moriarty novel but...what a terrible, boring, pointless novel! He’d thought, full of love and testosterone, that he would protect his woman from bad men and heavy furniture and upsetting food.” I really disliked this one. Couldn't wait for it to be over, actually. It was so boring and also claustrophobic at the same time, giving me a sense of desperation for these people to just be set free already. For the life of me I could not understand what the purpose of this book was. It didn't even sound like a Moriarty. Nine Perfect Strangers might not be the only one of Australian writer Liane Moriarty’s chilling thrillers to inspire an equally gripping show. But ever since news broke that there would soon be another adaptation from the Big Little Lies writer, fans have been eager to see how Hulu’s new miniseries would bring the twisted tale of Nine Perfect Strangers to life. And they have certainly had to be patient, as the Nine Perfect Strangers Trailer landed in April, more than a year after the streaming giant announced its plans to turn the Nine Perfect Strangers book into a TV show.

I completely disagree with you about the audio book. Caroline Lee is one of the best readers out there, she’s Australian, hence the accent. There’s a reason for the Russian accent for Masha, and I think it’s done very well. I love Miranda’s writing, the way she gets the details just right. Talking about her students - “they were a species in transition: coming in as kids, voices breaking, angles sharpening, and leaving as something different altogether. Curves and muscle and the unfamiliar force behind both; the other parts of them desperately trying to play catch up.” I'm one of those folks that highlights passages in a book. But I typically don't do it for mysteries, just more “serious literature”. But I found myself highlighting a lot of passages. It was just that well written. Having never read any books by the popular author Megan Miranda previously or the highly successful "All The Missing Girls" I was looking forward to trying out this author by reading her latest offering "The Perfect Stranger". I also struggled with the novel’s perspective on reviewers – a negative reviewer for the main character’s most recent novel is arguably the book’s most personal villain. This aspect is minor and sort of dumb.Andreeva, Nellie (26 June 2020). "Luke Evans Joins 'Nine Perfect Strangers' Hulu Limited Series". Deadline Hollywood. Archived from the original on 27 June 2020 . Retrieved 13 July 2020. After the prologue, the first character the reader is introduced to is Frances. This was a great opener for the avid reader who will ‘get’ the subtle and not so subtle digs at the publishing industry and the trends they run right into the ground until they become a parody of themselves, forcing authors to either hop on board the train or wait for their chosen genre to become popular again. So, right away, I knew I was going have to see how Frances fared, and was all in. I couldn’t wait to see what other sardonic observations the author had up her sleeve. Whilst Regina Hall (Scary Movie), Bobby Cannavale(Will & Grace) and Luke Evans (The Hobbit) play Carmel, Tony, Lars, who are fellow retreat attendees. Tony is suffering with drug addiction as Carmel struggles with life as a single mother after her husband left her for a younger woman. Meanwhile, Lars' secrets remain deeply buried. Where did they film Nine Perfect Strangers? That should have been a great thriller but instead The Perfect Stranger was boring, convoluted, and slow-paced. Nothing happened in this book and I thought the main character Leah was one dimensional. I'm still not sure I understand exactly what happened in this book. What she finds instead is James, an enigmatic stranger who ignites in her an unexpected and all-consuming passion.

Paul and I watched the first two episodes- out of the three that are available- on Hulu last night —But once the characters started crystalizing in my mind and a few lines made me think a little deeper than I was expecting, I found myself taking my time and letting the story roll around in my head.
